1981 Corvette

I owned this car in the early 90's.  Original plans for this one were similar to the current plans for the '80.  But, a friend spotted it and had to have it.

An interesting story about this car was the near disaster that nearly befell it and myself.  I had driven from Federal Way to Everett and back.  Upon arrival to my apartment complex, I went to turn left, and the steering wheel all of a sudden free wheeled on me, and the car went straight rather than turn.  It was about 1AM thank God.  The security guard on duty helped push while I turned the front tires manually.  We got it parked, thankfully.  Jacked it up the following day to see what happened.  Seems the previous owner had dropped the steering linkage in order to drop the oil pan to fix a spun bearing.  He'd forgotten to install the cotter pin that keeps the steering gear castle nut from backing off.  So, the entire steering linkage fell off!  Had this occurred anywhere else on the trip, I'm sure I wouldn't be here to tell you the story!
